EMS Instructor Training Programs

With very few PA Bureau of EMS certified EMS Instructor-Trainers, ETA is able to offer instructor training programs for individuals wishing to be state certified EMS Instructors.

Educational Methodology Program

The educational methodology program is a 40-hour program designed to give prospective instructors the tools they need to be successful, dynamic educators.

Catherine Parvensky Barwell is the author of Teaching EMS, one of the first textbooks published specifically for teaching instructors the art of teaching emergency responders. Catherine is currently working on a revision of that text, and she is uniquely qualified to teach anyone interested in becoming a dynamic, motivating, and effective educator in the world of EMS education.

Course Format and Requirements

BEMS requires re-submission of courses every 3 years. At this time, we are working to modify the course and resubmit for approval. Once approved, the course will be offered in a hybrid format consisting of:

16 hours of asynchronous online instruction
24 hours of synchronous online instruction, including final presentations
